Happy new year! 2024 was a good year for me and mine despite the raging world. Looking forward to a quite 2025.
In the spirit of new year's resolution, this is some ideas I have for how I want to live:
Keep on working to be less of a consumer and more of a maker/artist.
Less unnecessary shopping.
No new tech. I have everything I need at the moment
Only 1 new piece of clothing a month or a 3-piece outfit a season.
Have to finish my current sewing projects (2 Pomona pants) before beginning a new one.
No new stationery or art supply (again I have what I need).
Home and travel
Again there's nothing I need (though I've been eyeing a milk frother and an air fryer)
I can buy:
A new cabin suitcase.
A chest of drawers to organize art and hobby supplies and miscellanea.
Tomorrow it's back to work, but my vacations start the February 20.
🖥 Watching
Finished my Clarissa flashback.
Saw Kaos (before finding out it was cancelled). Really liked it. I would describe it as a sort of Greek mythology Romeo + Juliet. One of the most interesting adaptation details was turning the primordial and conceptual Greek gods, that absolutely can't comprehend human beings into unfeeling billionaires. It's not a correct interpretation, but it's very interesting modernization and works quite well in the narrative.
📚 Reading
Think I must start finishing Braiding Sweetgrass, the last chapter I found less emotionally harrowing.
The Robin Scharma book is a different story, I might decide it's not worth it.
🎮 Playing
Currently at the 6th dungeon in Zelda Oracle of Ages.
🍝 Cooking and Eating
Sophie localghost recommended Ottolenghi's Pasta a la Norma, and it was perfect.
🪡 Making
Website: I will launch my website during my holidays, no head to do it now. Some of the pages I need to have ready include:
Interests (instead of ideas and or projects).
A where I stand page, I'm not going into details here but any platform, no matter how little could and should be used to defend human rights, peace, justice and the environment.
Made the Commonstitch Pipit vest and the result was pretty good!
I want to make a zine, but I feel I don't know how to write one. I'm trying the following ideas
One about Milo or Bocky, my cats.
Favorite vegetarian recipes.
Study habits (for my nieces and nephews).
Showcase my favorite analog photos.
Had the same problem when trying to make a Bitsy game, maybe I should try turning one of those into zines.
